October 2009 - AIG Aviation is now Chartis Aerospace

In its process of dissolving the direct relationship from parent company AIG, the Commercial Insurance Group of the insurance giant has completed the separation and re-branding with a new name. For several months the Commercial Insurance Group has been operating under the holding company AIU Holdings. Chartis Insurance was selected as the name of the company. Chartis is Greek for "map" and they feel this best communicates their brand. The aviation division of the company is now called Chartis Aerospace Insurance Services, Inc. Their pool of issuing companies such as National Union and Commerce and Industry backed by their global surplus of $32 billion capacity and products remain the same. AIG remains a signifigant stockholder of Chartis Insurance.
